Project 16-773

Canada | British Columbia | West Vancouver | 2019

This 5,600 sq ft contemporary custom home is located in West Vancouver, BC. Upon your first steps in the door, you are greeted by BONE Structure’s exposed structural steel cables that have been incorporated into the design. Behind the wine cellar, you will find a floor-to-ceiling windows which wrap around the entire south side of the home, looking out onto the Strait of Georgia.

The wine cellar was a collaboration between Team Hasler and Blue Grouse Wine Cellars. The architect incorporated the apparent steel cables, which flank the wine cellar on each side, into the design. The wine cellar adds a backdrop for the dining area, as well as the kitchen, and makes for a nice divider for the great room. Follow the floating stairs to the lower floor and you will step into a media room that opens up on the lap pool. Also downstairs you will find three bedrooms, the laundry room, and the informal entryway coming from the driveway.

But the wine cellar isn’t the only piece of functional art! The integrated floating stairs by BONE Structure create a beautiful feature for the lower floor, especially the way the light falls through them from the window above.
